What You'll Do
-
Clean optical components and monitor vacuum chamber for the deposition of optical coatings on optical surfaces. Hand or ultrasonically clean and inspect optical components in preparation of depositing optical coatings on optical surfaces.

Load optical components on standard, special or improvised fixtures and place them in vacuum chamber.

Select, measure, and place the applicable chemicals in vacuum chamber.

Operate and monitor vacuum chamber for the deposition of metal, anti-reflection, single, polarizing, dielectric, and multi-layer coatings.

Assist in the creation and revision of optical work instructions.

Work required frequent lift and move of material up to 70 pounds

Test coatings with spectrophotometers, laser-photometers and interpret test data.

Clean and maintain vacuum chamber periodically. Record and file test data.

Work to drawings, written or verbal instructions.

Perform periodic chamber maintenance such as: pump oil changes, feedthrough rebuilding, ionization gauge tube replacement, tool sandblasting, and bearing replacement.

Remove coatings in various acid baths.

Assist other personnel and perform duties under supervision.

Maintain equipment, troubleshoot hardware and software issues and work area in neat and orderly condition.

Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring

Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience

Ability to read and work to complex technical drawings, written specifications, and verbal instructions with minimum supervision.

Aptitude to handle delicate optical components
What's Nice to Have

Experience with Electro-Optics

Preferred to have candidates pursuing higher degree in STEM.

More than 2 years of experience in electron beam evaporated optical coatings
-
Ability to inspect optical surfaces per Mil-O-13830A (if not already trained be willing to learn by on-job-training)

Preferred to have some basic knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and vacuum systems
