As a Precision Optics Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead the development and optimization of precision fabrication processes for spherical optics, driving solutions in machining, grinding, polishing, and metrology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision Optics Development: Work closely with master opticians to define and optimize fabrication and testing processes for spherical optics. Your technical expertise will help drive efficiency and precision across production.
- Process Documentation: Analyze fabrication and testing results, converting them into standardized work processes that ensure consistent quality and performance.
- Tooling and Fixture Design: Design specialized tooling, fixtures, and processes that support the precision manufacturing of optical components.
- Technical Support: Provide crucial support to production, engineering teams, and suppliers, helping to resolve process-related challenges and improve outcomes.
- Innovative Process Improvement: Research and implement cutting-edge technologies in tooling design and process development, driving continuous improvement in precision manufacturing.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in interferometry, optical testing, and general shop metrology.
- Proficiency in CAD/Solid Modeling and CNC programming.
- In-depth understanding of optical specifications and fabrication processes in line with MIL and ISO standards.
- A passion for solving complex manufacturing challenges and improving processes through innovation.
- A collaborative spirit with the ability to support cross-functional teams in engineering, production, and supplier management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in optical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in optics manufacturing or precision machining.
- Experience with CAD or SolidWorks is highly preferred.
- Strong materials knowledge and an understanding of CNC machining principles.
