Micro-Poise Measurement Systems, an AMETEK company, is a leading OEM supplier of capital test equipment to the worldwide automotive and tire industries. Micro-Poise is currently seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer for their Streetsboro, Ohio facility.
Your Impact:
The Manufacturing Quality Engineer provides support to ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System and is responsible for ensuring Micro-Poise products have the level of quality to satisfy customers' expectations. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer improves product quality through effective root-cause analysis and problem-solving by providing guidance and implementing corrective actions that lead to continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer collects, analyzes, reports data, and recommends improvement actions or projects across the company's order fulfillment process, monitors incoming material quality, conducts discussions and visits with vendors when quality issues arise, and provides support to the production team in the implementation of quality and productivity improvement projects.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is a must – Mechanical Engineering is preferred
- Demonstrated experience in metrology equipment use, from CMMs to micrometers and similar tools
- Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably low volume-high mix companies. Experience as an internal quality auditor is preferred
- Practical application of Lean and Six Sigma methods
- Demonstrated results of successful application of various Continuous Improvement tools
- Computer literate – MRP (including inventory transactions and BOM), Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels in the organization
- Demonstrated ability to influence others
- Strong attention to details
- Ability to drive decisions and get closure, even when obstacles arise
- Travel up to 15%
Responsibilities:
- Assist Quality Manager in maintaining the company's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification.
- Support on-site quality audits
- Metrology instrument calibration according to QMS / ISO standards
- Lead in-process quality audits performed during assembly, testing, and after customer buy-off
- Provide feedback to capture lessons learned during quality audits to Operations, Engineering, and Sales to ensure the final product complies with customer needs
- Manage Non-Conformances and CARs to improve customer satisfaction
- Apply Root Cause Analysis to problems and identify the right tools for effective issue resolution
- Train employees on quality methodologies or processes
- Support the day-to-day needs of the floor while improving processes
- Contribute to reducing Total Cost of Quality (Warranty, Rework and Scrap)
- Visit suppliers as needed to ensure incoming material complies with quality requirements
- Responsible for tracking problems during and after product shipment
